Who we are
History
Back in 2017, Feed Our Homeless started as a Food Station / Soup Kitchen located in Dublin’s city centre, with a walking outreach service operating throughout central Dublin.
Food Station
Feed Our Homeless operated a food station three nights weekly, every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday outside Bank of Ireland College Green from 7pm-10.30pm. The team provided hot food, clothing, sandwiches, etc. availed of by homeless people, families living in emergency accommodation, older people and others experiencing food poverty. A very important aspect of this service was the support team who were on site to deal with any concerns/issues the Service Users may have had. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, this service ceased.
Walking Outreach
The Walking Outreach Service operated on the same nights from 9pm-10.30pm. Our team provided support, encouraging Service Users to avail of emergency bedding. The team walked around the city providing those sleeping in shop doorways and bedding down for the night across the city with tea, coffee, sandwiches, sleeping bags etc, general support and a listening ear. This is still a huge part of what we do today.
